An elderly couple is preparing to attend their young granddaughter's birthday party while also attempting to conceal a secret from their children...

Director’s Statement(About the theme):

The darkest aspect of the human being is our capacity for crueltyviolence, and destruction. As creators and observers of the world around us, we see the ways in which people can harm each other and the planet, whether it be through war, oppression, or environmental degradation. This darkness can be reflected in art through themes of sufferingdeath, and despair, and can serve as a powerful tool for exploring the complexities of human nature and the struggle between good and evil. Ultimately, as artists, we strive to shine a light on these dark aspects in order to provoke introspection and inspire change, in the hopes of moving towards a more compassionate and harmonious world.

Plot Summary

An elderly couple is carefully preparing for their young granddaughter’s birthday party, a joyful family gathering. Under their cheerful facade, they carry a heavy burden: a secret they’ve been hiding from their children. As they prepare the birthday gifts, their anxiety grows, fearing that the truth could shatter the loving image they’ve worked so hard to maintain and forever alter their family dynamics. This poignant short film delves into the complexities of love and family, revealing that for some, even home may not be the safe haven it once was.
