On a Christmas night, Lili and Marleen are forced to reassess the nature of their friendship and the unwritten rules that define it.

On Christmas night, Lili and Marleen are forced to confront the true nature of their friendship when an unexpected situation challenges the unspoken rules that have defined their relationship for years. What begins as an ordinary evening gradually transforms into an intimate emotional journey, where long-hidden feelings and unresolved tensions emerge, forcing both women to question what their bond really means.

With remarkable sensitivity, Best Friends Forever (Amigas para siempre) explores the fragile balance between affection, trust, and vulnerability. Through subtle performances and an intimate narrative, the film reflects on the complexities of human relationships and the moments that quietly reshape them. In just six minutes, directors Alicia Marina and Anna Mitjà create a heartfelt portrait of friendship, revealing how even the strongest connections can be transformed by honesty and self-discovery.

Since its completion in 2025, the film has been selected by numerous international festivals, including the Festival de Cine Comprometido de Guadalajara (FESCIGU), a Goya-qualifying festival, PÖFF Shorts – Black Nights Film Festival, Serbest International Film Festival, Rani Durgavati International Film Festival, Cortos con Ñ, İstanbul International Nartugan Film Festival, Siero Women Fest, Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival, FERFILM – International Film Festival, and Festival Un Barrio de Cine, highlighting its universal themes and growing recognition among audiences and programmers worldwide.

Alicia Marina (also known as Alicia Garrigues) is a Spanish actress, screenwriter, and director whose career spans film, television, and theatre. After training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London and studying screenwriting with Academy Award-winning screenwriter Bobby Moresco and Amanda Moresco in Los Angeles, she shifted her focus from acting to writing and directing. Her previous work includes the short film Adrian, developed under the supervision of acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, and the series Love-ly, produced in Los Angeles.

Anna Mitjà is a filmmaker and screenwriter with a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and a Master’s in Screenwriting for Film and Television from The Core School. Her work combines fiction, documentary, and performing arts, including the award-selected dance film BUIT, the short documentary Com moure, the fiction shorts Les pedres. L’assaig and Cuándo—also developed with the guidance of Asghar Farhadi—and the comedy micro-series Analógicos. She is currently developing her first feature film, Lucia’s Eye (Ull de Llúcia), while also teaching film projects at TAI Arts.

Marina and Mitjà first met in 2018 during a directing workshop led by Asghar Farhadi in Navarre, where they began collaborating creatively. Best Friends Forever (Amigas para siempre) marks their first project as co-directors and associate producers under Annlee Films, bringing together their shared vision for intimate, character-driven storytelling.
