Suspense, tension, and a touch of disgust. “LACERACIÓN” seeks to explore, from an intimate and bizarre perspective, how to reignite the spark of love in a romantic relationship, by exaggerating situations to surpass the boundaries of the ordinary. The perversion with which the images unfold knows no limits, as we witness this seemingly perfect couple navigating through a midlife crisis to save their relationship by engaging in violent acts and asserting control, almost as if they were gods.
As a filmmaker and cinephile, I believe that the essence of a cinematic piece lies in the smallest details, and to elevate the experience, we must fully exploit each aspect involved in its creation. There must be a certain subtlety in the cinematography, with movements that are precise and calculated. The camera serves as an observer, keeping us close to our characters to feel their intimacy yet simultaneously maintaining a cold and distant perspective. This contrast between two styles aims to reflect the emotional state of our characters and the transformation they are undergoing.
The atmosphere will be characterized by cool and neutral colors, evoking a sober feeling to allow the red blood/colors to stand out and create a striking contrast that conveys a sense of discomfort, the kind that makes you want to look away but keeps you captivated.
The original score and sound design will immerse us in their perverse world and help us convey tension during the climax, leaving a bitter taste in the mouth minutes after the short film ends.
