Zigguart FilmFest 2027 Opens Submissions for Its 3rd Edition: Celebrating Independent Cinema and Global Distribution Opportunities
Milan, Italy – November 8, 2026 — Zigguart Multimedia is pleased to announce that submissions are officially open for the 3rd Edition of Zigguart FilmFest, taking place October 20–31, 2027.
Following two editions dedicated to discovering and celebrating independent filmmaking talent, Zigguart FilmFest returns with an expanded vision: connecting filmmakers with international audiences, recognizing creative excellence, and creating opportunities that extend beyond the festival.
Based in Milan, Italy, and presented online through Zigguart TV, the festival welcomes independent filmmakers from around the world to submit their latest works.
More Than a Film Festival
Zigguart FilmFest was created with a mission that goes beyond traditional festival recognition.
As an international online film festival organized by Zigguart Multimedia, the event combines cinematic celebration with opportunities for professional exposure and international distribution.
Selected filmmakers have the opportunity to showcase their work to audiences worldwide, receive festival recognition, and explore potential distribution through Zigguart Multimedia’s growing network of streaming and industry partners.
Zigguart FilmFest is also an IMDb-qualifying festival, allowing eligible awards and nominations to be documented on IMDb in accordance with the platform’s listing requirements.
New for 2027: Best AI-Generated Film
One of the most exciting developments for the third edition is the introduction of a new competitive category: Best AI-Generated Film.
Recognizing the evolving relationship between technology and cinema, Zigguart FilmFest welcomes filmmakers using artificial intelligence as a significant creative tool in storytelling, animation, visual production, and experimental filmmaking.
The category is open to short films, feature films, animation, documentaries, and experimental works that demonstrate substantial creative use of AI technologies.
Submissions will be evaluated based on artistic originality, storytelling, creative direction, technical execution, and innovative use of artificial intelligence.
Filmmakers must disclose the AI tools used and ensure they hold the necessary rights to their submitted materials.
Through this new category, Zigguart FilmFest aims to encourage responsible innovation while continuing to celebrate the essential role of human creativity in filmmaking.
International Distribution Opportunities for Selected Films
One of Zigguart FilmFest’s distinguishing features is its direct connection to international film distribution.
Through Zigguart Multimedia, selected films may be evaluated for potential release on streaming platforms and distribution services, including:
- Fawesome – Advertising-supported streaming (AVOD)
- CPICS – Subscription-based streaming (SVOD)
- GuideDoc – Documentary streaming
- Bibliotele – Institutional and library streaming
- Zigguart TV – International streaming (SVOD/TVOD)
- Darkroom – Digital distribution opportunities
- Synergetic – Film distribution
- Brew.tv – Digital and mobile-focused streaming opportunities
- Additional opportunities may be explored through other AVOD, SVOD, TVOD, and FAST distribution channels.
All distribution proposals are considered individually and remain subject to rights availability, filmmaker approval, and platform acceptance.
Supporting Filmmakers Beyond the Festival
Zigguart FilmFest aims to build lasting relationships with independent filmmakers.
Beyond the festival itself, eligible selected films may benefit from professional promotional and distribution support, including dedicated film catalogue pages, international marketing, social media promotion, and assistance with industry database visibility on IMDb, TMDB, and Letterboxd, where applicable.
Through its year-round activities, Zigguart Multimedia continues to explore new ways to connect independent productions with streaming platforms, distributors, and international audiences.
Welcoming Independent Cinema from Around the World
Zigguart FilmFest 2027 welcomes filmmakers working across a wide range of genres, styles, and formats.
Festival categories include narrative cinema, documentary, animation, experimental film, music video, socially engaged storytelling, and the newly introduced AI-Generated Film category.
