About the film
Produced in 2019, this poignant short film marks the directorial debut of Iranian filmmaker Sara Mokhavat. Blending suspense, social observation, and emotional depth, the film follows an elderly hard-of-hearing woman who becomes trapped in an elevator after witnessing something unsettling outside her apartment window.
As time passes and no one seems willing—or able—to help, her growing sense of isolation turns into anxiety and despair. Cut off from the world and increasingly abandoned by those closest to her, she is left wondering whether the real catastrophe is unfolding outside, or within the society that has forgotten her.
Through a simple yet powerful premise, Sara Mokhavat crafts a moving reflection on aging, loneliness, communication, and the invisible barriers that separate people from one another.
