The Left hand is a surreal and unsettling exploration of loneliness, desire, and the illusion of control. Blending dark humor with body horror and poetic symbolism, the narrative unfolds around a man who tries to impose love and obedience onto something that resists both. Through minimal dialogue and expressive physicality, the film investigates the blurred line between need and possession, intimacy and domination. With its absurdist tone and visceral imagery, the story invites viewers to confront the consequences of isolation, obsession, and the human tendency to seek connection at any cost—even with what cannot truly reciprocate.
About The Director:
Mehdi Ahmadpanah was born on July 16, 1984, in Tehran. He embarked on his academic journey by studying mechanical engineering. However, right from the beginning of his academic pursuits, he found his passion for cinema. While studying at the engineering faculty, he engaged in several short films and theater productions. During his postgraduate studies, he decided to change the course of his life and continued his education in the field of film directing at the Tehran University of Art. He produced his first feature film in 2016, which was screened at the Fajr Film Festival in the same year in the Art and Experience section. Currently, he is actively involved in theater and cinema in Tehran.
